April is the month of release of Vassilis Tsabropoulos’ new album “Akroasis”. The album will be released in all European countries, the United States and Japan. Another production for the german label ECM, for which Vassilis has been recording since 2000. The recording and release of this album is a landmark in Vassilis’ career in music. The album includes five improvisations on Byzantine hymns of the “Passion Week” and also three new compositions written by Vassilis, based on echoes of the Byzantine music tradition.

    New concerts planned for Italy

Vassilis will be in Milano, Italy from April 8 to 11, where he is going to give two concerts,
presenting his new album “Akroasis”.

  March 29-31 / Concerts with Vovka Ashkenazy in France and Greece

Vassilis is going to give two big concerts, the first in the French city of Anguleme and the second in Athens, playing works by Rachmaninov. His friend and long-term collaborator, Vovka Askenazy is going to appear with him too.
Two big concerts and a doubtless great musical collaboration.

    February 27 / Sold-out concert in "Athens Concert Hall"

A great sold-out concert in “Athens Concert Hall". Vassilis improvised, with an amazing approach, works by J. S. Bach. The world famous “Bach Swingle Singers” vocal group also participated in the same concert. This was the first time that a Greek pianist improvised on works by J. S. Bach in such an peculiar way.

Anja Lechner   February 8-12 / News from Germany

Vassilis traveled to Germany to rehearse with cellist Anja Lechner and organise his tour in German cities for the summer of 2003.

    First new year's concert with the "Orchestra of Colors"

In his first concert for 2003, Vassilis Tsabropoulos made an appearance with the “Orchestra of Colors” and played Haydn’s “Concert in D Major”. Alexandros Myrat was the conductor and the concert took place in “Dimitris Mitropoulos” hall of the “Megaron”. Vassilis has teamed up with with the “Orchestra of Colors” in the past, giving successful performances of concerts by Mozart, Scriabin, Liszt and Nino Rota.

News from Norway / New Tsabropoulos/Andersen/Marshall trio album

Vassilis Tsabropoulos began new year with a very successful series of concerts in Norway. He gave three concerts with his trio, which received great reviews from the press and the music critics. This was Vassilis’ third concert tour in Norway, and his next one for the Scandinavian lands has already been planned for 2004.

During his stay in Norway, Vassilis recorded his third personal album (and second after “Achirana”) with Arild Andersen and John Marshall, for ECM Records. Manfred Eicher was once again the album producer and the recordings took place at Rainbow Studio in Oslo. The new album is anticipated to be released in the beginning of 2004.
